More Than 100 Help San Clemente Fire Victims

When more than 100 people wiped down Leslie Shepard's scorched garage with vinegar after a fire seared her home, all Shepard could do was cry. On December 10, black smoke and flames devoured the family's home. Within an hour, an army of neighbors and fellow members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints came to their aid.

Non-LDS Caretaker Watches Over Sacred Grove

Scattered throughout what Mormons call the Sacred Grove are a few living witnesses of the First Vision of Joseph Smith. These are the trees that were there in 1820 when young Joseph saw God the Father and His Son, Jesus Christ. Today about 150,000 people come each year, walk through the grove, and pass by these silent witnesses.

Youths Collect 1,000 Items for Veterans Hospital

Young adults from Rancho Santa Margarita and the canyons collected more than 1,000 items for Christmas gifts for a veterans hospital in Long Beach this holiday season. Members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and Cub Scout Troop 727 participated in the project.

Korean and Chinese Scriptures Available Online

The Church has launched two new online versions of the scriptures: the Korean version in October 2009 and the Chinese (traditional characters) version in December. The Korean version is at scriptures.lds.org/ko and the Chinese version can be found at scriptures.lds.org/ch.

"Salvador" Shines on Stage

"El Salvador del Mundo," far from a typical foray into musical theater, brightly flourished all the same during three showings at the Bountiful Regional Center. After more than two years of planning, the Spanish-language adaptation of the popular stage production "Savior of the World" successfully channeled the talents of amateur and first-time actors from several cultural backgrounds into a cohesive production depicting the circumstances surrounding the birth of Jesus Christ.
